Sitting grandly on the banks of the Thames is\u00a0Tate Modern<\/strong>, Britain’s national museum of modern and contemporary art. Its unique shape is due to it previously being a power station. Inside you’ll find temporary exhibitions by top artists from Damien Hirst to Gauguin. The gallery’s restaurants offer fabulous views across the city.<\/p>\n \u00a0 The\u00a0London Eye<\/strong>\u00a0is a major feature of London’s skyline. It is the world’s highest observation wheel, with 32 capsules, each weighing 10 tonnes, and holding up to 25 people. Climb aboard for a breathtaking experience, with unforgettable views of more than 55 of London’s most famous landmarks \u2013 all in just 30 minutes!<\/p>\n Brick Lane runs from Spitalfields at the North end down to Aldgate at the South. In addition to its fascinating history, the street is best known for the sprawling market that takes place every Sunday (North of the old brewery) and also for the unrivalled choice of Bangladeshi restaurants that you can find along its length.\u00a0This is a must if you are a vintage lover. There are incredible deals for high waisted Levis or mirrored Lennon glasses.<\/p>\n My way of travelling and experiencing the city is actually tasting it. I try out all the different local sweets, fish n chips and beers. Here are some local favourites.<\/p>\n The Fat Deli<\/em>, in Balham. It\u2019s a family-run place and it does the best sausage sandwich in London, full stop. They also make their own pasta.<\/p>\n The Mayflower<\/em>.\u00a0A pub has stood on the site since time immemorial, and certainly, when the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in their own Mayflower from a nearby mooring in 1620. The current building is 18th century, and looks every inch the traditional English pub with oak beams and wooden panelling.<\/p>\n Jamie Oliver’s Recipease<\/em>. There’s something for everyone at Recipease. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned pro, you can come just to ask questions, learn new skills, get inspiration and try some really fantastic food.<\/p>\n The Hummingbird Bakery<\/em> landed in Notting Hill in early 2004 to become the home of quality American baking in London. I know it’s not actually local, but it’s just amazing! Today it has five branches across the city and is famed the world over for its delicious cupcakes.<\/p>\n Ben’s cookies<\/em>\u00a0most definitely make you rethink your mom’s\u00a0cookies, which you USED to call the\u00a0best\u00a0cookies\u00a0you’ve ever had. I guarantee you this will be your NEW\u00a0BEST\u00a0COOKIE. sorry mom.<\/p>\n This is the world\u2019s largest antiques\u00a0market with over 1,000 dealers selling every kind of\u00a0antique and\u00a0collectible. Visitors flock from all over\u00a0the world to discover one of London\u2019s best loved landmarks which contains the most\u00a0extensive\u00a0selection of antiques in\u00a0Britain.<\/p>\n Big Ben<\/strong>\u00a0is the nickname for the great bell\u00a0of the clock\u00a0at the north end of the Palace of Westiminister\u00a0in London,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0and often extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower.\u00a0The tower is now officially called the Elizabeth Tower, after being renamed to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n One word – PRIMARK!<\/em><\/p>\n We went to see singing in the rain, we’ve gotten really cheap seats, but it didn’t bother us.\u00a0You don’t get to see these old style musical shows that often so this impressed us a lot – from the actual Victorian theatre building itself to the great performances.
