Our route started with \u00a0waking up really early and visiting Fiesole<\/strong>, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and see the most incredible view of Florence.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you have the whole day I recommend visiting\u00a0Fattoria LaVacchio<\/strong>, an organic farm\u00a0located about 18-20km from\u00a0<\/span>Florence in\u00a0<\/span>Via di Montefiesole, 55. It’s best to visit this place at weekends, because you can later go and eat at a\u00a0restaurant,\u00a0Mulino a Vento<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a beautiful place to eat with a view you normally would pay big bucks for, a \u00a0place with certain seductive tranquillity about it. Around since the 1940\u2032s and named after the\u00a0village windmill\u00a0\u2013 \u00a0which is still in use to grind the farm\u2019s wheat for use in the restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now lets start the journey to Siena. Do not go on the highway! You must use the local roads and feast your eyes on the beautiful Tuscan surroundings. We took the road SR 222 and SS 222. Stop in little towns that look enchanting, try out some Chianti (not too much, because you are driving!) \ud83d\ude09 The biggest one is Greve in Chianti<\/strong>, where you can also try out some cheese Pecorino and cold meats that make you do a happy dance.<\/p>\n

Soon you will arrive to Siena<\/strong>. Sightseeings in Siena:<\/p>\n

1. The\u00a0Piazza del Campo<\/strong>, the unique shell shaped piazza at the centre of the city, and twice a year the racetrack for the Palio.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

2. The\u00a0Palazzo Pubblico<\/strong>, Siena’s City Hall for almost 800 years, contains the famous frescos on good and bad government by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, frescoes by Simone Martini and Duccio, and access to the Torre del Mangia, from whose top you can view a beautiful panorama of the Sienese countryside.<\/p>\n

3. The\u00a0Duomo<\/strong>, Siena’s magnificent black and white Italian Romanesque cathedral including the Libreria Piccolomini, Baptistery, and an attached Museo dell’Opera del Duomo\u00a0which includes the famous Maest\u00e0 by Duccio.<\/p>\n

Continue your travel to San Gimignano<\/strong>. The most beautiful little city for me \ud83d\ude09 Sightseeing in San Gimignano:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

1. Piazza della Cisterna\u00a0<\/strong>is the main square of the town. It is triangular in shape and is surrounded by medieval houses of different dates, among them some fine examples of Romanesque and Gothic palazzos. At the centre of the piazza stands a well which was the main source of water for the town’s residents..<\/p>\n

2. Piazza Duomo<\/strong> this piazza is to the north of Piazza della Cistern and is connected by a passage adjacent to an open loggia. To the west, at the top of the square, \u00a0reached by a broad flight of steps. The name of the square would seem to imply that this church was at one time a cathedral, but although it was perhaps planned, this was not the case.<\/p>\n

Have dinner in San Gimignano at:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Trattoria Rigoletto,\u00a0<\/strong>delicious Pici pasta.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Il Trovatore<\/strong>, Pizza to die for.<\/p>\n
