Originally it is called Piercy Island, but now its often known simply as &#8220;The Hole in the rock&#8221;.\u00a0It is at the very northern tip of Cape Brett\u00a0in the Bay of Islands. The island is more of a rock, barren only having gannets\u00a0and other sea birds to call it home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teresamisu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4009.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teresamisu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4009.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.terezaschoice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4009.png 800w, https:\/\/www.terezaschoice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4009-480x320.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The island itself was named Piercy Island by Captain Cook, I think it&#8217;s called after his &#8220;boss&#8221;. Not just because of the Hole, which we went right through it, but also because of dolphins and seals! Yes very girly, but also very spectacular to see dolphins in their own natural habitat. I also signed up for swimming with them (yes I know the water has 14 degrees this time of the year!
