<\/a><\/p>\nFor the first month I lived with my dad and wanted to quickly find something where I can be by myself. Once I was confronted with the gigantic prices I quickly realised either I’m staying or finding a cheaper option. In New Zealand it’s pretty normal to house sit, many kiwis have pets to look after and they would like somebody taking care of their bills while they are away. For the first three months or so I lived in a large, beautifully appointed house, but of course it was only a temporary solution, as the owners would be moving back in to live there full time in the summer.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, an opportunity to house sit\u00a0has popped up literally the same day I accepted the job offer near by.\u00a0 This beautiful apartment\/house was in Castor Bay where\u00a0the stars are so bright they literally kept me up the first few nights. There is still a fair amount of noise, but instead of buses and traffic, it\u2019s the sound of the ocean and weird sounding birds. I had to adjust to the silence as I was living next to the railway station back in Slovenia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n House sitting is a great option to save money on rent, especially if it\u2019s this kind of an arrangement. I payed for monthly bills and took care of their cuddly cat Buddy. It was a great solution until I found my base. This apartment was so close to the beach I could smell the sea every morning and hear the winds at night (being poetic \ud83d\ude42 ). Almost every day I would go for a walk or run and here are some pictures of the path I took.<\/p>\n It was a realy great experience even though I lived like a gypsy for a while, but it was fun and very explorative.
