We experienced the most relaxing weekend in a comfortable farmstay set on six acres of peaceful pasture a few minutes drive from Coromandel township. Our host, Robin, is a New Zealander who speaks Hebrew and has travelled and lived overseas. She enjoys sharing her knowledge of the people, places and history of this beautiful country with guests who want to know more about it. And she serves the most amazing breakfast I had in a long long time! The table was full of organic goodies! From homemade muesli and other cereals, fresh bread and home-made preserves, yoghurt, fruit from Jacaranda’s spray-free orchard, juice, coffee and a selection of teas. Each morning was a culinary journey. Words can’t explain this wonderful breakfast.

At the lodge there is also a fully-equipped guest kitchen which allows you to prepare your own picnic lunches or make your own dinners. We preferred to eat out and try out some of the local cafes and restaurants.

A new day was again filled with incredible beaches, such as New Chums beach, voted top 10 beach in the world by The Observer! Expectation heightens as you begin the walk of approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Wade through the lagoon at the northern end of Whangapoua Beach to the rocks, and finally onto the track leading to the saddle and your first glimpse of New Chums beach.
